Math Tutoring That Starts With Understanding
Not just homework help. Help figuring out why the math isn’t making sense yet.
Every student comes into tutoring with a different story.
Some are trying to pass tomorrow’s test.
Some have been confused for months.
Some are doing well but want to push further.
And some have reached the point where they are starting to believe they simply aren’t “math people.”
My job is to figure out where we actually need to begin.
Together, we can work through the immediate problem while also looking for the missing ideas, misconceptions, or connections underneath it.
Online tutoring is available anywhere.
In-person tutoring is available in the Tahoe–Reno area.
Who I Work With
I work best with students who want more than an answer key.
Some students come to me because they are behind. Some are preparing for an important test. Some understand most of the material but have a few gaps holding them back.
And some simply need mathematics explained in a way that finally connects.
Rebuilding Foundations
For students who feel like math has gotten away from them.
We can slow down, identify missing skills, rebuild confidence, and reconnect current coursework to the ideas underneath it.
This is especially helpful when a student says:
“I don’t even know where I got lost.”
Current Coursework
Need help with what is happening in class right now?
We can work through difficult concepts, homework, quizzes, upcoming tests, and the reasoning behind the procedures being taught.
The goal is not simply to finish tonight’s assignment.
The goal is to make tomorrow’s assignment easier.
Going Further
Tutoring is not only for struggling students.
Students who are doing well can use one-on-one instruction to explore harder problems, strengthen problem-solving skills, prepare for future courses, or deepen their understanding beyond what classroom time allows.
