You can find answers almost anywhere.

What is harder to find is someone who can figure out why a student does not understand the answer yet.

Sometimes the problem in Algebra is not Algebra.

It might be fractions.

Negative numbers.

A misunderstanding of equality.

A rule that was memorized years ago without ever making sense.

Or simply an explanation that never connected.

My job is not to repeat the same explanation until a student memorizes it.

My job is to find another way in.

Traditional algebra often asks students to manipulate symbols before they really understand what those symbols mean.

I wanted to give students another way in.

Tileifying Algebra turns algebra into a virtual manipulative—something students can see, move, and explore.

Instead of memorizing what happens when a term crosses the equals sign, students can move the term themselves and watch the mathematics change.

The rules haven’t disappeared. Now the rules have a reason.

I’m a math educator, tutor, problem-solver, and the creator of Tileifying Algebra.

I’ve spent years helping students work through the moment when “I don’t understand this” starts turning into “I’m just bad at math.”

That is the part of teaching I care about most.

I love finding the misconception underneath the struggle, changing the explanation, and watching something that once felt impossible finally click.

Math With Dan grew out of that idea—and eventually so did Tileifying Algebra.

I’m still learning, still creating, and still looking for better ways to make mathematics make sense.

And if I can give one more student a reason to try again, this is worth doing.
